| "Ding," like others, was not particularly fond of William Howard Taft (1857–1930), and he appears in few of Darling's cartoons. One suspects, however, that the cartoonist was greatly appreciative that Taft's obese physique and tonsorial qualities lent themselves to easy caricature. Darling also appreciated Taft's support for the League of Nations, which both men strongly favored. |
