| When Roosevelt died in office, Harry S Truman (1884˜1972) became president after serving less than three months as vice-president. Truman was little known outside of his own State of Missouri and the United States Senate, where he had served as senator. He took office at a critical point in World War II and was greeted by a nervous, skeptical public. Less than two months into his presidency, Harry Truman had proven his leadership and decision-making abilities. |
